Course Summary:

Communication in today’s culturally diverse workplace can be challenging. Misunderstanding and frustration can erupt when the exchange of information breaks down. You send one message but the receiver seems to hear something different – and it’s not always easy to tell whether it’s because of the words you use, your tone of voice, your body language or because you’re following different conventions of spoken English. This two-day course will equip professionals whose first language is not English with skills to improve their verbal communication. In a secure and relaxed environment, you will practise how to deal successfully with challenges; for example, hard-to-hear telephone conversations, office ‘small talk’, and those situations where you need to express “negative” opinions clearly without creating conflict. On completion of this course you will have gained the skills
to communicate more confidently and fluently, in a way that will enhance your work relationships.

Participants will learn to:

  • Correctly compose and format business documents, including emails

  • Use an enlarged business vocabulary

  • Identify common mistakes and replace them with clear, correct and logical language

  • Use punctuation with precision and accuracy
