| Ensuring the best possible outcomes for women on their journey through conception, child birth and life's changes.
Who We Are
Counties Manukau District Health Board (CMDHB) provides
maternity care for over 8,000 culturally diverse women in the
South Auckland region making it the largest in the country.
Our major site is Middlemore Hospital with another three primary
community maternity facilities 20 to 40 minutes drive from the
base hospital. Our midwifery staff practice autonomously and are
committed to providing quality care and choice to the women who
birth here.
Our Services
Maternity care at Middlemore Hospital comprises antenatal
inpatient care, acute assessment, primary, secondary and
tertiary level labour and birthing services, supported by a
level 2 and 3 Neonatal Unit.
Primary maternity care is provided by core, community and case
loading midwives who are based either at Middlemore Hospital or
in one of the low risk Community Maternity Units at Botany
Downs, Papakura and Pukekohe. Outpatient community services are
provided from several locations, within General Practices in the
community or in the woman’s home.
Women's Health also provides a comprehensive gynaecology service
which includes acute and elective gynaecology, colposcopy and
urodynamics services.
Although infertility and oncology services are managed
predominantly at National Women's Hospital, an increasing number
of cases now seek services from CMDHB Women's Health.

relocation costs where necessary.
We understand that work/life balance is important, and we offer
flexible rostering and employment options. CMDHB also has an
onsite crèche and is close to a number of quality schools.
We believe that access to ongoing high quality education and

graduates who work at CMDHB.
